Drying Film
Now it’s time to prepare the film for drying. Carefully unroll the developed film from the reels. Hang the strips using clothespins or specialty clips and use squeegee tongs to remove the excess water. Allow the film to dry, hanging. Make sure it isn’t touching the ground or curling in on itself, or you will end up with water spots on your film. If you place clips at the ends for weight, the film won’t curl and will be easier to cut into shorter strips later. Leave the film like this in a cool, dry place (where no dust will circulate) until it is entirely free of moisture – usually several hours.
It’s possible to dry film faster, either in a commercial film dryer, or even with a common hair dryer, but especially with the latter method care must be taken not to dry the film unevenly, or, much worse, melt the film.
