How to Develop Film

To develop black and white film at home, you will need to pick up a few items. Just like the darkroom equipment, you can often find these items on craigslist or freecycle. However, they are usually reasonably priced new in camera stores too, or on Amazon.

Here’s the list:
-Tank with 2 Reels – Some people prefer metal reels, but I suggest plastic for beginners.)
-Bottle opener - I use the one on the end of my wine corkscrew.
-Scissors
-Thermometer – I use an analog meat thermometer and it does the job. But any thermometer will do, so long as it can read the temperature of water.
-Water (preferably running) that can attain a temperature of around 68 – 70 degrees
-Timer, or stop-watch
-Film Developer
-Fixer
-Hypoclear
-Photo Flo
-String/rope, and some clips
